  • Plain, unsweetened yoghurt (120ml / 4 fl.oz)
  • Lite sour cream (60ml / 2.1oz)
  • Lite cooking cream3 (250ml / 8.5 fl.oz)
  • Basil pesto4, GF (100g / 3.5oz)
  • Cheddar cheese (133g / 4.6oz)
  • Parmesan cheese (45g / 1.6oz)

GENERAL GROCERY

  • Sesame seeds (1 Tbsp)

PANTRY STAPLES

  • Milk (1 Tbsp)
  • Egg (1)
  • Olive oil (1 1/2 Tbsp)
  • MayonnaiseGF (4 Tbsp)
  • White vinegar (1 1/2 Tbsp)
  • Tomato sauceGF (80ml / 2.7 fl.oz)
  • Soy sauceGF (2 Tbsp)
  • Worcestershire sauceGF (1 1/2 Tbsp)
  • Brown sugar (1 1/2 Tbsp)
  • Plain flourGF (2 Tbsp)
  • Beef stock cubeGF (1)
  • Chicken or vegetable stock powderGF (1 tsp)
  • Garlic powder (1 tsp)
  • Dried oregano (1 tsp)
  • Ground cumin (1 tsp)
  • Smoked paprika (1 tsp)
  • Salt and pepper

1 You can use green cabbage instead, if you can’t find wombok.

2 Use 2 large chicken breasts as an alternative to 4 pieces schnitzel.

3 I used Philadelphia Light Cooking Cream. Lite cream cheese or regular cream are both good alternatives.

4 For a tomatoey version, used sundried tomato pesto.

GF Gluten-free swaps: Ensure pesto is gluten-free. Use gluten-free breadcrumbs, tortillas and pasta. Make sure chilli beans, mayonnaise, tomato sauce, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce are gluten-free. Choose gluten-free plain flour and stock.
